HEXACO Personality Test

Why HEXACO is not another Big Five

Michael Ashton and Kibeom Lee's HEXACO model keeps the familiar extraversion, conscientiousness, and openness ideas, then splits the ground differently. Honesty-humility is its own factor: sincerity, fairness, and a low appetite for status. Emotionality covers fear, anxiety, dependence, and sentimentality. Anger and patience sit in agreeableness, not in emotionality. That last point is why a fiery person is not automatically "high neuroticism" inside this model.

This quiz is eighteen original questions. It is not the HEXACO-PI-R and it will not match a lab administration. Use the bars as a reading of which leans showed up today. Then take the Big Five if you want the five-factor research language beside it. Neither page is a hiring test or a diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the HEXACO-PI-R? ▼
No. That inventory is a copyrighted instrument with its own items and norms. These eighteen questions are original and only follow the published factor definitions.
Where did anger go? ▼
In HEXACO, irritability and the need to win sit in low agreeableness. Fear, worry, and sentimentality sit in emotionality. A Big Five neuroticism score mixes some of this differently.
What is honesty-humility in practice? ▼
Whether you will mislead, show off, or grab status when it is easy. It is not the same as being polite. A polite person can still rig a number. A blunt person can still refuse the trick.
Can I use this to hire? ▼
No. Eighteen web questions are not a selection test. Use work samples.
