What this test is for

Carl Jung’s 1921 Psychological Types described two attitudes (extraversion and introversion) and four functions (sensation, intuition, thinking, feeling). Combined, teachers later wrote eight “function-attitudes”: Se, Si, Ne, Ni, Te, Ti, Fe, Fi. Myers and Briggs added a fourth letter (J/P) and built 16 types. This quiz stays closer to the eight processes. It is original and unofficial.

Read Jung’s eight functions explained after your result. For four-letter codes take the 16 types test. For traits take the Big Five.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this official MBTI or a Jung institute test? ▼
No. The official MBTI is a trademarked instrument. Jung did not publish a multiple-choice quiz. This is an original informal sitting that uses the eight function names later teachers attached to his typology.
How is this different from the 16 types test? ▼
The 16 types test adds Judging/Perceiving and returns a four-letter code. This test scores the eight processes and returns the lead function. You can take both. They will not always agree, especially if a preference is close.
Can I have two leading functions? ▼
A short quiz returns one lead and shows the other bars. Read the second-highest score. Jung wrote that all functions are used; one is usually more differentiated.
Should I use this to hire someone? ▼
No. Function language is theory inside a typology community. It is not a validated selection instrument.
